WHERE DOES EQUALITY STAND?IMPACT, CONFLICT AND CHALLENGES

On September 30, 2017, we were at the São Carlos National Theatre for another conference of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation (FFMS) – ‘Where is equality standing? Impacts, challenges and conflicts’- meeting led by José Alberto Carvalho.

This FFMS event was attended by over 600 participants and, to reflect on the theme of Equality, the Foundation invited big names in political philosophy – Pierre Rosanvallon, Philippe Van Paris -; national and international economists – Branko Milanovic, Richard Baldwin and Ana Rute Cardoso -; historians like Gregory Clark; and gurus linked to art and literature – Gonçalo M. Tavares, Ricard Zimler and Os Especialistas.

Ruby Bridges, the first African-American child to attend a white school in the southern US, was the big close of this meeting.

The event ended in São Carlos square with the performance of the geração orchestra.

Parallel to the FFMS event conferences ‘Where is equality standing?’, an equality tour took place where anyone could participate and enjoy a walk through the main points of Lisbon related to the theme.

Multilem was responsible for the design, construction and management of the entire event.
